I can’t believe it’s been almost two months since I updated my journey. I keep thinking “I need to write” and then life gets in the way. I am finally putting some miles on my legs again, just as the days are getting shorter and a little cooler… which is my favorite time of year to run! Between a combination of running, hiking and walking, I am breaking 25 miles a week of time on my legs. I will TAKE IT! In the last two weeks, the pain in my SI joint finally diminished and went away completely. I am taking care to do daily maintenance of ice and heat, along with chiropractic care weekly or bi-weekly. I also have been doing daily PT - no exceptions - in the form of guided practice from Dr. Jill Zimmerman on the Playbook App. This has been game changing. My balance is so much better, I have awareness of my hips and core in a way I haven’t previously achieved and I am definitely much stronger than I was six weeks ago. Plus - I love it! I have never regretted a 10-20 minute session.
I refuse to choose a goal or look any further ahead than the next day’s workout or time on my feet. I want to get back on the bike, and will, but want to make sure the hamstring/glute stuff is completely cleared up first. That is my lingerer right now. Once I am confident I am past that, I will also start carrying a heavier pack. I went back to yoga last week and it was heaven. I also need to keep this practice up, because it is so good for my brain too.
The best part of what’s good now is my foot is quiet… completely quiet… for the first time since January 2023. I am tentatively starting back to lifting and plyo work, with caution optimism I have turned a corner.
So that’s it for now! Here are a few more pictures from the last several weeks of wandering…

Great job Heather!
